Raj is an associate with the firm. Raj joined the firm after practicing land use planning and development law as in-house counsel with the City of Mississauga. Prior to that Raj practiced land use planning and development law with a boutique law firm where he represented private sector clients. Raj is therefore uniquely positioned to understand land use planning and development matters from both a public and private sector perspective and he brings that insight to helping find solutions to his clients’ problems.
Raj’s practice involves all aspects of land use planning and development law. He currently represents both public and private sector clients. This includes assisting municipalities with the preparation and defense of municipally-initiated official plan amendments and zoning by-law amendments. He also helps both public and private sector clients work through the land development process. Raj provides strategic advice to his clients, opines on land use planning and development issues and has experience negotiating and drafting various land development agreements. Raj regularly appears before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board), municipal committees and councils. He is also experienced in arguing consent and/or minor variance applications before the Committee of Adjustment, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board), and the Toronto Local Appeal Body.
Raj is a frequent speaker on land use planning and development issues in Ontario. He is actively involved with a number of professional associations. Notably, Raj has served as Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Municipal Law Section.
