Wood Bull has expertise in obtaining development approvals for hotels, resorts, entertainment and recreational properties in Ontario.  We have assisted both individual landowners looking to construct or improve their personal recreation properties and owners/developers seeking to develop hotel/resort and/or entertainment destinations. Examples of such representation are the trailblazing Festival Hall project (now known as RioCan Hall, containing the Scotiabank Theatre) in the Entertainment District in the City of Toronto and the Red Leaves Resort development in Muskoka. On occasion, we have represented clients who oppose such projects.  Opposing the location of a casino/hotel/retail/restaurant/convention centre complex in a particular area of the City of Toronto for major affected landowners/developers is an example of such representation.

Our specialized expertise includes not only a thorough understanding of the relevant law and policy frameworks but also the various technical considerations that can be critical to the success of these approvals processes such as land use planning, municipal servicing, municipal finance, market economics, transportation, and environmental sciences.
