The Wood Bull Guide to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal Act, 2017

Bill 139 enacted the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal Act, 2017 (the "LPAT Act") which repealed the Ontario Municipal Board Act and continues the Ontario Municipal Board under the name Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (the "Tribunal").

There are significant changes to the practices and procedures that apply to proceedings before the Tribunal and the manner in which certain Planning Act appeals will be conducted by the Tribunal.

Pursuant to section 32 of the LPAT Act and section 25.1 of the Statutory Powers Procedure Act, the Tribunal has made rules governing its practice and procedures. The rules are provided below.

Bill 139 received Royal Assent on 12 December 2017, and came into force on 3 April 2018, the day named by proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor.
