At the Planning and Growth Management Committee meeting of April 13, 2015 the Committee will consider a report from Planning staff regarding proposed policy revisions to the Healthy Neighbourhoods, Neighbourhoods and Apartment Neighbourhoods sections of the Official Plan, based on public feedback received to date.
Throughout the fall of 2014 the City undertook a comprehensive public consultation process with an earlier version of the proposed policy revisions. City staff have made revisions to the draft policy changes to address feedback received during the public consultations, and are looking to use this revised version as the basis for the next round of public consultation.
Notable proposed policy changes:
- proposing to give greater weight to the immediate vicinity of a development site in the Neighbourhoods designation
- encouraging improvements to existing apartment buildings
- using the prevailing density of neighbouring residential properties as a consideration for new development
